Definition:
Actions that happened in the past but We can see their
results now and/or We don’t mention when exactly.
Structure:
He, She, It -> Has + Verb
Past Participle
I, You, We, They -> Have + Verb Past Participle
Rules:
For an action which happened in the past, but We
don’t mention when exactly.
Example: I’ve travelled to the USA twice.
- To talk about a state which started in the past
and continues up to the present.
Examples:
I have lived in Athens since 2012.
I have lived in Athens for 20 years.
- For an action which happened in the past and
finished but the results are obvious in the present.
Examples:
I’m tired. I’ve just finished studying.
Look! Jerry has broken his leg.
Time Expressions:
For, since, already, just, yet, lately, recently, ever,
never, how long, once, twice, before, so far, always, etc.
